2016 Omaha Gives! | No More Empty Pots

Thanks to AdvoKatie in 2016 nonprofits like No More Empty Pots got a boost during Omaha Gives! Day.

No More Empty Pots
connects individuals and groups to improve self-sufficiency, regional food security and economic resilience of urban and rural communities through advocacy and action.

Last year we had the opportunity to help them bridge the gap on Phase 1, a shared-use commercial and production kitchen space in their Food Hub.

The Food Hub will include commercial kitchens, a community café, and cold/dry storage. The hub will support job training, workforce readiness, food waste reduction and the list goes on.

With the help of our friend AdvoKatie, nonprofits like No More Empty Pots had videos, landing pages, email blasts and social posts to create awareness throughout Omaha Gives! Day.

This push encouraged donors to not only make a donation themselves, but to share the nonprofit’s mission and stories with their friends, families and colleagues, so that they could donate as well.

Not to mention the community garden that brings their neighborhood together and encourages new volunteers each year. See the videos here.

Award Winning Omaha Gives Campaign

As Omaha Gives! Day 2017 approaches we know that every campaign is crucial to a nonprofits success.

Last year, we created A Dog’s Outlook, Outlook Nebraska‘s 2016 Omaha Gives! Campaign that focused on seeing the work that ONI does through the eyes of our guide dog reporter Phin.

We wanted to give a new “perspective” on how ONI works and their incredible team.

The videos were to be used prior and during Omaha Gives! Day 2016 to encourage donations to Outlook Nebraska during the day of giving while educating watcher’s on what they do and those they impact.

We captured Phin at all kinds of ONI events, with both program attendees and employees at Outlook Nebraska. From teen recreation events to working the production line, Phin reported it all.

He was an awesome dog reporter who knew how to tell a story, with a little help from the team and a lot of ear scratches.

The campaign won the Integrated Communications Award of Merit at the 2016 PRSA Paper Anvil Awards.

Luka Partners, a client partner of Outlook Nebraska whom helps them execute the award-winning programs they put on, nominated them and was recognized alongside them at the awards.

Here is a taste of what we created for ONI and check back soon for our 2017 Omaha Gives Campaign packages.

Ask Campaigns Create Awareness

Non-profits rely on the generosity of their supporters to keep their doors open.

To gather the right supporters and make them into advocates for their cause, an organization needs to find a way to not only tell their story, but also personalize it in a way that will be accessible and relatable to their target donors. We developed an ask campaign for these types of organizations to utilize either year-round, or for a specific giving period that revolves around an event or time of year.

Planned Parenthood of St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri was in a position where they needed to increase community support and donations. Because they had a loyal audience on social media and had a large in-house donor and email list, they wanted to leverage this audience to increase communication and hopefully trigger more donations.

This coincided not only with the end of the year (a large giving time for many organizations), but also the recent election.

We set up the shoot and had two people scheduled to come on camera the Monday before the shoot. By Saturday, the numbers had swelled to 13 people who reacted to the election and knew the importance of showing their support for the organization and how important their services were.

We actually had to turn people away, which speaks volumes to the loyal supporters Planned Parenthood has cultivated.

The video shared people-specific stories about what Planned Parenthood meant to them.

The goal was to have an impact on the community and share how the organization’s services helped women every day, and how their donations would help keep the doors open for those in need.

Along with featuring the video on their home page as part of their ask campaign, the organization also plans to use it in their social media, in their direct mailings, and in cards to supporters. The campaign landing page can be viewed here.

When an organization affects the number of people that Planned Parenthood does, telling their stories via video is incredibly impactful.

We enjoyed working with Planned Parenthood to help spread their message, and we wish them luck with their campaign!
